My appologies if this is a redundant post, I couldn't find another thread regarding my question.
My question, I have some swamp ash I would like to use u'Beaut hard shellac on. Is there something I can use as a pore filler, or is this a type of wood I will not be able to build a flat finish on. The instructions on the bottle say not to put it on other sealers or finishes, but says nothing of pore filler. I have tried testing without any pore filler, only to have (from my observations) the shellac getting pushed deeper into the pores with each coat, causing the surface to bulge, causing sand throughs.
Thanks in advance for any help.
