A quick question.

Has anyone had any experience fitting those snazzy brushwood/bamboo screens that you can buy from bunnings/M10/everywhere?

The plan is to attach them to an existing timber frame. Do I need wire and a tensioner? Staples?

SWMBO is very skeptical about the upcoming instalation!

Gday Adam, as the screening has wire holding it all together,a good method is to tension plain gal wire across your timber frame, then use netting clips (little C-shaped wire pieces applied with matching pliers) to attach the screening to the taut wires.

Gripples are good to use for tensioning the wires if you don't have access to fence strainers, they are like small lead slugs that you pass opposing wires through and spring loaded serrated wedges inside let the wire pass through but hold it from pulling out. You leave them in place once the wire is tight, which also allows retensioning of the wires in future if needed.

Good luck.........cheers..........Sean

Cheers thanks,

I've never heard of a gripple before. I'll go to the hardware store at lunchtime and have a look. If the guy looks at me funny when I ask for a "gripple" its your fault!

HI,

YOu want to be careful where you install them as the brush wood is very flamable so if you're on a main road or near a school (Public access) you may get some kid igniting your fence with a lighter. they do look good though...
