Hey All!
I'm just getting into designing and building solid body electric guitars. Climbing the massive learning curve of use of woodworking tools, making jigs, finishes, etc...
I work in 3/4 of a tiny garage with some tools I inherited.
I use;
100 year old reclaimed pine for bodies,
Danish oil, hand rubbed stains,
Timbamate filler/sealer,
Probably going to use shellac top coats depending on the advice I get here...
Looking forward to comments and advice when I post some builds.
Cheers.

Here's a pic of one of my first geetars;

I guess you have used it quite a bit. Nice.

Nope. It's brand new, finished about 2 weeks ago.
But it's made from 100 year old reclaimed pine and I try to embrace all that age and character, so hopefully it still looks about 100 years old.

Heh heh...
Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware the build quality is pretty poor but this is my first guitar.
I like to think that despite that, the idea behind it has a bit more integrity than faking a relic though...
Looking forward to the reactions to that one....

It is the way that you have presented this. It comes across as a well used guitar and if that is what you were after you have done that very well.
