View Full Version : Flashing and Installing New Wood / Timber Windows and door frames

Hi,

I am about to install several new wooden casement windows and external door frames. None of the windows or door frames have flashing attached to them and my question is the process of flashing the window/door sill before installation and how to finish them for a weatherboard exterior.

I've seen a video where plastic dampcourse material is stapled to the inside edge of the sill and then folded under and stapled to the side of the frame to form a tray. This is easy enough to understand. But when the window goes in the rough opening;

1. Do the packers sit under the plastic or between the plastic and the sill?
2. Where does the plastic sit when the weatherboards are put on the outside?

does anyone have any photos or links to photos/videos/pdf's that might show clearly where the flashing sits on the weatherboards and where the packers go.

Thanks.
