I have been looking to use an infrared paint stripper on my skirting boards. I want to strip them back to bare wood, then finish with some kind of clear varnish.

I want to know about your experince of using this new way of stripping wood.

no sorry, but I have used the hot air guns, very tedious and tiresome but they do a relatively good job!

I use a fishtail burner (flame) hooked up to the bbq bottle. Very quick. Minor burns not a prob if repainting, or even clear coating.

Good thing about this method it dries the paint well and does not clog sandpaper.

Much cheaper than Infra Red thingy.

When I did my skirting boards I removed them and did them in shed at a nice height. I also use belt sand paper by hand for the hard to get too bits/curves etc.

cheers
