Hi everyone, I am a newbie to this site, I belong to to AAW and mostly hang around the IAP - International Association of Penturners which are both excellent sites. This one is fantastic. It has such a diverse range of topics - even though I will never build a build a boat or work with metal, I love reading about it.

Welcome Midi and "G'Day from on top Downunder";
I was in your neck of the woods 2 years ago and got bewildered by the 200 plus TV shows on offer, but best of all I found sond great woodwork and renovational shows. I've since subscribed to there newsletters and found that you mob are spoilt for choice with building, hardware and tools suppliers which are so much cheaper that here in Aussie.
Anyways, enjoy the website as this semi-retired bloke does.
Cheers, Crowie

Thanks for making me feel so welcome. Yes we do have some nice wood here and if you are a fan of maple, walnut or oak, this is the place to be. On the other hand if one likes Aussie burls, and I am, I'm sure they are cheaper there.

What are you intrested in regarding wood working. I make pens, but i am interested in bowl making.

Cheers,

Thanks for the welcome. You're right about never saying never. Actually, I would love to be a helper to someone who is making a boat. What are your interests?

My interests are in furniture. It just takes a long time for me to get things completed. :roll:

G'day Midi and welcome to woodworker's cyber space heaven!:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

I've spent a bit of time in the States and have to agree with Crowie.

Drove through Sacremento but didn't get a chance to stop and have a look around. Pity, because what I saw I liked.:)

I have upholstered furniture. Classes were offered at a skills center. It was good in a class setting, but it's not something that's easy to do at home. It usually takes two to heft furniture around. Do you know Jake Cress? He is a furniture maker. I can't quite explain what it is he does, other than to say he is incredible. Check out the animated furniture - :

Well, next time you stop and I'll show you the town. Thanks for the welcome - and you're right this site is a little piece of cyber-heaven.

Take care
