I have a buffet which is raw sanded Jarrah at the moment. It looks great, but its unprotected. Ideally the finish will protect and will highlight the grain. I'm trying to decide between clear estapol and rubbing it with oil. The estapol has the advantage of protection but i'm worried that it will look artificial or cheapened. I'd rather not use shelack as if read that its alot of work.

Hi Dexx
I've had great success with "Lobasol" Deck and Teak Oil, purchased from Perfect Timber Floors in Thomastown, Vic. Three coats and neighbours were drooling over my new verandah on my 1927 home. A little bit more expensive than stuff one can get at hardware stores.

I have finished several items of Jarrah furniture with Organoil. It gives a good finish but does darken the colour.
Have also used Feast Watson Floorseal on Jarrah with good results
U-Beaut HARD Shellac (made by our sponsor) will give a good hard finish and is easy to apply.
