Hi Guys, This is my first post so be gentle....

I'm wanting to replace a half height window (Dowell Aluminium) it's 6 bricks wide and half the height of the wall, with a sliding double door (glazed Dowell).
The wall is brick veneered with a timber frame. Am I correct in thinking all I need to do is rip the old window out, remove the lower bricks in the wall and install the door straight in.???
The house is about 10 years old and the window has an expansion joint down each side of it, so no need to cut any bricks..
Will the window have a wooden header above it..so no need to install a lintel...??
Also the new door will be nearly as tall as the opening, so is it acceptable just to in fill the gap at the top with a bit of timber and the fit architrave..??

Phew....any thoughts guys...??? :U

Steve
