Well, I joined here a while ago after I picked up an old drill powered lathe, drill press, table saw multi-tool thingo that I can't think of the name of right now, and found some info on it here.

Now i'm getting a bit more interested in woodworking in general, so i figured I'd stick my head in here and say Hi.

I like making things in general, and reciently bodged up a bit of a dog house for our border collie. I'm keen to have a go at making things like bookcases & other furniture, as well as trying my hand at box making. I kind of like little wooden boxes. I'm also keen at having a go at making wooden toys, if not right now, in the not too distant future when hopefully we'll have some kids of our own.

I've also the forum seems to be at the top of the list for australian welding forums too, which i'm having a bit of a play around with again at the moment. for the time being my welder is a terrible thing, i think its a cigweld from memory, but the sum of any adjustment is a switch that selects between 2.6 and 3.2mm rods. For the time being I think i'm stuck with it, but eventually I want to get myself one of these inverter welders, like a cigweld weldskill 130. I am tempted to go the budget option of one of these $100 Bunnings specials though, at least to tie me over till i can afford a better one. I'll have to keep thinking about that.

Anyway, thats me for now,
Cheers,
Matt

Matt seek help immediately what you have is serious and can only be cured with visits to Tool store, wood stores and Woodworking shows. :U

Canberra's is just around the corner where you'll find lots more to steer you away from one interest or add to many.

Welcome an may you have many happy hours in the shed.

Good to see another Canberrian.

Nothing wrong with the budget tools, I would rather learn on them and subject them to my mistakes than an expensive tool. :D

Welcome aboard

Hey all.

I think i've already been bitten by the workshop / tool bug, and i'm slowly building a nice range of tools which will see me thru the odd jobs I do.

I've remembered what the multitool thing i was talking about is, its a sher, the same as : http://www.woodworkforums.com/f16/sher-shopmate-table-saw-drill-lathe-combo-brisbane-88610/

but I don't have the bit to mount the saw blade in the drill. I do have a sher drill that fits in it, but its not the big one, its a smaller drill. I figure, at the very least, it might be useful for use as a small wood lathe.

I can see me having a go at making some small boxes, maybe a toolbox or two, and I do have a fasination with pens, so I might have a go at making a few of those too. There is just too many directions to be pulled at the moment.
