Decorative edging- MDF table top

Hey,
I'm making a table at the moment out of MDF, I was wondering what some options for a decorative edging to the top may be?

I would edge it with real timber for the top - mitred corners and then use a router to add some decoration. Legs could just be edge rounded over with the router.

What are your ideas for finishing as the MDF edges will require some work to fill [cut down on their absorbancy]

I agree with Bob. If the table is square or rectangular, edging with real timber will look good.
If you have a round, or irregular shaped table top you can route an attractive profile in the MDF. To seal the MDF , paint it with PVA glue and let it soak in. Don't get it on your veneer! (I am assuming you're using veneered MDF?) You might need a second thick coat.
Then undercoat and paint it. I used Burgundy colored gloss paint with Sapelli veneered MDF and it came up looking good.
