Good Evening Friends,
When you get your lumber from the hardwood dealer it is not always straight as an arrow, Since my jointer is not large enough for longer boards, what can I do to true up the boards before running through the planer?

If the boards are longer that your jointer you can use some roller stands for support.

G'day Ralph,

Take the boards to your local joinery, like I do, sling 'em a few dollars and get 'em to do the job for you. :D

It works for me.

In my part of the world we call it "face cutting" taking the bow or spring out of the timber by freehand cutting a new straight face on the convex side, then place this side against the gauge and cut to size.
And next time ask the timber yard to buy regrowth timber from sawyers who know how to release the obvious stresses before sizing :D

Good Evening Friends,
E. Maculata, gave the correct answer and the one I was looking for so there is no need for me to go any further. Good job Mac.

Respectfully,
