Can anybody help me locate where I can get some Industrial Metho? I live in Geraldton WA and have tried every paint store, hardware store & industrial store. From that search I only found one bloke that actually new what it was but he was unable to get it through his suppliers. Bunnies of course you just get that blank stare, I am sure they give their staff lobotomies.

I have been reading the polisher's handbook and would like to have a go at some of this.

Thank you

Hey gjnairn,

Have you tried Paintright stores? I've seen 2 of their stores sell a 100% ethanol here in Melbourne.

Stores - PaintRight (http://www.paintright.com.au/stores.html)

Side note to anyone else about Digger's methylated spirits, it says in their MSDS sheet http://www.recochem.com.au/files/downloads/Methylated_Spirits_v3.pdf that the only ingredients are ethanol (>=95) and water (<=5). Does this mean it's actually not denatured and is pure ethanol?

No, it's methyl alcohol or ethyl plus methyl I think. And 5% water.

Sceneys make pure meths. Might be worth contacting them for a retailer list.

Wouldn't they be legally required to state the presence of methanol?

Yes Sceneys make pure methylated spirits, I know for a fact PaintRight stocks them so check them out.

I have not seen a paint Right store out this way so I will check our Sceneys

Thanks

Ah, I didn't know PaintRight didn't have stores in WA. They're quite prevalent in Eastern Australia. Good luck with your search.
