Installed my new (birthday present form No 2 daughter) computer weather station this morning.
Started raining just after lunch, so far have had 28.2mm.
Wooho, almost forgot what rain looked like, tanks are overflowing as well:2tsup:
Rather nice to sit inside and be able to read the rain gauge:2tsup:

Wot's this 'rain' stuff of which you speak? The only wet stuff that falls from the sky here is white with a black spot in the middle :oo:

as for using all that water to flush out the shavings, use a broom like the rest of us

And now that I've been rude about the rain, it's raining here :- Mind you, it's not 'rain' as such, just annoying precipitation, enough to turn the dust on the car to mud ... if that.
I'm giving up on posting 'funnies' on the forum and going to go back to saving the world, that at least has some chance of success.

Went to check the rain gauge, but its overflowing, so we must have had a fair bit. Usually one of the things I like about Brisbane is that the rain always comes in one big hit, and then the sun comes our again, so the last 3 weeks of drizzle is starting to get tedious.

If you had a rain gauge in central Melbourne today it would have exploded. Never seen anything like it. It shut down Southern Cross train station and collapsed Etihad stadium roof (estimated 3-4 months to repair) will be interesting as the week goes on what the estimated damages bill will be. It will be staggering. I got home and it was like I had jumped out of the shower with all my clothes on. (at least they wont need to be washed :) )

I have just finished moving three rooms of furniture.. we had at least 15 inches of water running through our yard this afternoon!..
There was water everywhere, I know we are not the only ones in this predicament and I have great sympathy for everyone effected by the storm..
Anyway off to temp emergency accommodation now.

Bugger, no footy at Etihad, oh the shame - any chance of all the other places getting rain damaged beyond repair before the season kicks off? :D

I was at Ideal Tools in Williamstown all morning and went back to Melbourne on the Willi line (platform 11) then onto the Mordi train (Frankston line platform12) this photo was taken on the departing train just after mine. I was a little lucky as that was the spot I normally board. All this happened so fast (the storm) it was unreal.

Just shows how fickle the weather can be. I live south of Melbourne and got some "fat" rain around 4 in the afternoon which settled down to become a steady shower for the rest of the night (lots of thunder off in the distance). This was just what the garden needed, I couldn't believe the damaged caused until I read this thread this morning.

Four broken tiles and wet plaster and insulation, what made me cry though is the hail ding in the roof of my four week old new car and the company car sitting next to it not a mark :( where is the justice ?

Yeah, rain stats show v diff averages for parts of Melb. Hoppers crossing is the driest, and it's often dry here in the Nth when the East is getting plenty. The rain god must be classist!
I hate leaving home on the bike in the dry and then having to stop and cover up when it's p*ssing down East of the Yarra.

Brudda, what part of Traralgon are you in? Was the flood higher than the 1978 flood? That was estimated as 50 year average recurrence interval flood. I worked there then, and had to write an explanation for the local rag after they published a front page head line "No more floods for 50 years, says Board". Did Traralgon Ck. come down? I'd heard of "walls of water" but didn't believe such a thing could exist, but we recorded one on the creek that changed my mind.

Cor, fun and excitement all round.
For what it's worth, here in Adelaide, we've had lots of steady sort of half hearted wet stuff that is a bit more than drizzle but not really rain. Still, maybe the grass will finally grow (dammit, then I'll have to mow it).
I sympathise with all of you suffering flood or other related rain damage.

:C Went out ot the car this morning to go shopping and it covered in little dings.:C Hmm! "At least its just cosmetic" I thought. Then I got in and noticed the crack in the windscreen. "Oh! Cheese and Whiskers.":- Also both indicators were knocked out and just hanging by their wires. They just popped back in luckily. They are predicting more storms and hail today. Maybe we should go quickly round and clear the gutters.:C

Suggest you take it to a prof. repair place.
Some of their work will pass a roadworthy inspection.

Thought that I only had the one fist sized ding, on a closer look there are little ones all over the roof and boot.:( When I rang the insurance company they said that they just pay out hail damage and in my case as the case is only eight weeks old a new car. I had to wait three months while they built this one with all the extras I wanted

Yep if the damage is considered too grate, they will then sell the original at the auctions. If you look at the FTG Toyota dealer they will have some cheap cars on the lot soon also.

hey Alex, when it flooded here 2 years ago, someone from council was talking on the radio and the talk was that it was a 200yr flood. That made the announcer feel better until the council bloke said "But statistically it could happen again tomorrow"
