Hi :D
I'm known as ShazL (longish story, pm me if you want to know) and live in Geelong (Victoria, Australia).
I started in woodwork at school. Recently hubby (Noel) and I joined a viking re-enactment group and found woodwork again. He mostly deals in metalwork, while I do the other crafty type things, I'm currently learning leatherwork too.
I'm fairly competent using hand tools, but own quite a few power tools now, so I'm learning how to use them.
I'm halfway through my first bench and a viking chest. Hopefully the next project will be a workshop before winter :2tsup:

Welcome ShazL! :thyel:
...I joined a viking re-enactment group...
Does that mean you get dragged round by the hair a lot?

Welcome ShazL, dont forget to look in the special forum on boatbuilding - you will need to get started on a Longboat soon.

Hmm, no. I do, however, hold the key to the strong box, just got to build the box and the lock...LOL
Thanks for the welcome!!
Funny you should mention boat building, I do have a couple of boats in desperate need of repair - an ok and a mirror. One job at a time.....

Welcome aboard.
Vikings in Geelong? Whatever next?
:)
Is it just a re-enactment social type thing (fine if it is, we've all got to have our own fun) or does your group get into traditional crafts as well?

I belong to NVG Hodgeon in Belgrave - not our local group NVG Dubh Linn - between work and other commitments our local group didn't quite fit into our real life :-(
But we do a fair bit of traditional craft, tablet weaving, hand sewn linen and leather goods, lots of wood furniture, chests, etc, all a new learning curve for me - this is only our first year. PM me if you want further info :-)
On a good note, my table is finally finished - just now adding a peg board. I have no idea how to post photos, or I would.
Happy woodworking

Top stuff.....if you're doing it with power tools, that's fine but if you're working with traditional methods pop down to the Hand Tools-Unpowered section if you've got questions (not for me, for one of the members that knows things :) ) or, better still, techniques to share.

Digital camera + PC + photo hosting site + this button http://cdn.woodworkforums.com/images/editor/insertimage.gif and muddle your way through from there.
