which timber for louver window frame

could somebody advise me please as to which timber to use for louver frames .I will be coating with clear finish. I am enclosing my L shaped verandah to make a work room. Brick house on part suspended slab. I'm putting recycled weather boards outside under the louvers, and inside vjs or ply. I will more than likely be frequently asking for advice as I attempt this project, my biggest to date. I am just gearing up to do the framing.
