G'day all, or should I say in my lingo, Good Afternoon ladies and gentlemen.

I'm Simon. Moved over from the UK almost a year ago to see what all the fuss is about!! Am loving Melbourne, and no matter what people say about the weather down here, it is a great improvement from what I'm used to!

I started woodwork when I was about 13 and have been doing it as a hobby ever since, but due to university, moving away from home and my workshop, and never living in a place big enough for a workshop, I have only done it sporadically. Still I have a keen interest in woodwork, and love wood, and anything made from wood, and hope one day to be pretty good at it – the only problem is finding the time with a full time job!! I guess I’ll just have to spend the years practising for my retirement!!
Anyway for now I have been tasked by the better half to make a bed, so I must visit some more forums on this wonderful resource to get started!!
Cheers,
Simon

Welcome Simon! :thyel: I'm from Norn Iron originally though I've spent many years in the South of England, where do you hail from?

Thanks Ern, I know reservoir - just down the road.

Woodwould - I'm originally from just outside Cambridge and spent most of my life there. Recently, I've lived in Windsor, London and now Melbourne. How long have you been over in these sunny parts?

Cheers,

Simon

I remember Cambridge, My cousin looked at a farm there.
We drove down to see this place. The house had rooms upstairs where the floor had a tilt that would make the proverbial drunken sailor topple. As such I see the need to create the matrimonial slumber couch. Yes Cambridge from memory was "cauld clay" lacking of fire from the north. London, well lets not talk about that.

Hi Simon,
Welcome to the fora. Like Ern, I'm just down the road in Eaglemont(Ivanhoe/Heidelberg) and you are welcome any time. I'm not a turner though, I make boxes and furniture.

Regards,

Rob
