I always wanted to say "G'day mates" but was sure I'd flub it up (I'm originally a Yankee from New England so I don't quite have the right accent.....)

Lets see; I started in the home building/ remodeling stuff about 40 years ago and did 2 years in a union shop, then did 6 years of designing, building and installing solar energy projects in New Hampshire. Always had a big barn and a big workshop for screwing around in (right, hiding in). We had the rug pulled out from under the solar industry by a man named Reagan and we all had find new work. I had a wife, 2 kids and a house so I started fixing computers. Spent the next 30 years doing that (without the barn and workshop), escaped, so here I am trying to put woodworking back on a front burner.

4 kids, 2 grandkids and a series of jobs later, I'm on the net and find this great site! You guys (and women, of course) have put together a tremendous site and a fantastic forum. I'm happy to join and look forward to learning a boatload from yu'all.

Welcome to the forum John. Its always great to hear from our American mates.

By contrast in my neck of the woods, it was 43 yesterday - that's 109.4 Fahrenheit - a tad too hot to do much else other than sit inside with air-conditioning ( and watch some cricket as it turned out) or go for a swim.

Like you, woodwork for me is a wonderful release from my day job - I look forward to hearing more from you and hopefully you will be able to have enough time to pursue your hobby

G'day John and welcome to the shed!!:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

Looks like you have had much the same diverse range of experiences as most of the inmates here. Enjoy your stay with us.
