G'Day to you all from "Old" South Wales (UK). just found this forum and would like to get to know you all better and borrow some ideas and tips. I've started carving about 6 months ago, love spoons mostly, and am totally self taught. I have the scars to prove it. in short i'd welcome some advice from "proper" carvers on any aspect on this fasinating hobby. I have just been introduced, via internet, to wood spirits, stick carvings and relief carvings and would love to try some of these in the future. for now im happy just to sit back and soak up all the advice i can get. some of the carvings here are a great inspiration and insentive to spend even more time in my shed.
thanks again

Pontypridd or "ponty" about 30 miles from me as crow flies. so thats pretty close by "Aussie" standards i suppose. i live near swansea....we also got a better rugby team than Ponty as well. So you got some Welsh blood in you...ever carved any Welsh love spoons?

Artme-- you said you never carved anything...hey man you in the right place, some lovely wood in Brasil. (don't take too much though, the neighbours won't like it)
Munruben --its not too bad...except for the weather that is.
