Not much action in this section lately so here is
one to ponder over.

There are six eggs in a basket.
Six people take one egg each.
How can it be that one egg is left in the basket?

Correct Ironwood - bad luck Groggy.

Here is another one to try and solve ...

There was once a recluse who never left his home. The only time
anyone ever visited him was to deliver his food and supplies...but
they never came inside.
Then one stormy night, when an icy gale was blowing, he had a
nervous breakdown. He went upstairs, turned off all the lights and
went to bed.
Next morning it was established he had caused the deaths of
several hundred people.

How could this have happened?

C'mon, give me a break - you must have the same book.

Try this one then:

Acting on an anonymous phone call, the police raid a house
to arrest a suspected murderer.

They don't know what he looks like, but they do know his
name is John.

On entering the house they find a carpenter, a truck driver,
a car mechanic and a fireman playing cards.

Without even asking his name, they immediately arrest
the murderer - the fireman.

Why were they so sure they had the right person.

Ok, this is one for you Funky:

There are six cups on a table.
For the exercise we will number them from 1 to 6 beginning on the left.

Cups 1, 2 and 3 are each filled with liquid - 4, 5 and 6 are empty.

The exercise:
You are only permitted to handle one of the cups and not move
any of the others. Your aim is to have full and empty cups
alternating... ie. Full, empty, full, empty, full, empty.

Sorry Funky, you did not win the prize although you
were correct.

You took too long consulting your friends, Internet sources
and maths teacher before responding.:2tsup:
