Hi friends,

I have just finished making a really nice marking gauge out of Tassie Oak and Jarrah. Can people suggest an appropriate finish for a hand tool, bearing in mind that I would like to both use and admire this piece of work. I have considered the "Hard Burnishing Oil" from Organoil.

Taa

Mate theres plenty of options available to you.

But I am going to leave this one for Major Panic to reply too as he makes some absolutly stunning marking gauge's so if anyone is qualified to respond it should be him... ;)

Any kind of oil finish would be a good start to the patina that will develop from use
