I've seen a lot of strange things in the bush in my travels but this is a new one on me. I have a lot of trees 'ear-marked' for when I have the time and space to do something about them and I keep an eye on them as I travel around the area. I've been watching this Sandalwood for a couple of years now (even have permission to get it:o) and noticed it had been dropped when I drove past last week. Thought I'd better go for a closer look to see what some lousy bugger had done to my tree and found it was actually several thousand lousy buggers :C. Just a small gallery up the heart, barely enough for 2-way termite traffic, and it looks like they've just gone round and around until the thing fell. I've seen dead trees fall from the little blighters chewing out the insides but never this - it looks like they actually intended to fell the thing just like a beaver  :o Maybe this is their ark to float away on in the next flood :U
Anyone else come across this type of behaviour????

True Sandalwood or the False Sandalwood?

Either way it is great to turn, as you say.

I'm surprised that the little sods like the stuphph.

I'm surprised that the little sods like the stuphph.True Sandalwood (santalum lanceolatum) - the little buggers reckon it's like caviar - and they don't mind a feed of false sandalwood either - it's dessert :U
