Some water got under one of the place mats on our dining table, and mas missed in the clean up. The table now has some water damage (as well as other bumps and scratches).

What is the easiest or best way to treat this. I was hoping that I could just use some Traditional Wax with some buffing, but I'm not sure if I need to sand back at all first.

Here are some photos (with and without flash).

I think you'll find it less time consuming to simply strip and refinish, rather than try patch repairs in a polyurethane finish. It's sturdy stuff, but once its stuffed, its stuffed.

Probably explains why I prefer oils and waxes!

I ordered Howards finish restorer after seeing a demo at the wood show. It worked pretty well, expect where the finish was complete flaked off (no helping there). I then put a coat of Traditional Wax on, and the results are pretty good. I'll post photos later.
