Got sent this link to another Homemade Jet Engine builder (a Kiwi btw - not that there is anything wrong with that ;) )
Interesting - amazing (bit scary) stuff.

Enjoy,
Kiwis and jets.......a scary thought.
I must say though I find turbines and jets fascinating. I have a particular interest in the attempts that have been made over the years to use turbines in railway locomotives. The Americans had some beautiful massive gas and coal turbine locos and steam turbine locos were developed in quite a few countries.
Turbines also have there uses in the oil field...we use them down hole to drive out drilling bits in certain sections of the wells we drill.

The Hungarians are masters at getting value out of jet technology.
After the first gulf war we had Red Adair and his fellow hell fierfighters attepting to put out burning wellheads with fleets of heavy machinery and millions of gallons of water.
Along came the Hungarians with a couple of second hand Mig jet fighter engines mounted on the remains of some tracked vehicle and they just blew the fires out.....they backed the jet engines up to the wellhead and then fed water through the intake of the engine.

Hi Wayne,
This is different to the one I built. Mine is actually a turbine...like used in jet aircraft. The one in this site is a pulse jet, which has no rotating parts but a valve ( flap of sorts).
Have a nice day.
