I got a phone quote from a sparkie today to put power points into my new shed. $90 per powerpoint :oo:, is this the going rate, or am I being got.
I may as well get one double powerpoint and two of these (http://www.arlec.com.au/display.php?pid=71). They're only ~$50 and you get 4 surge protected double powerpoints.

Wow, I remember when $90 was a good weeks wage. Makes you wonder doesn't it.

I thought the going rate was a case of their favourite drop . . . Hang on, you mean pay for it.
I have the 6 outlet (DES12) and have had no problem with it, running a lathe, drill press, linisher, grinder and an extraction fan. obviously not all at the same time :U

$90 wouldnt even get a sparkie half way here. $210 for the first hour and $150 each hour after that is the last price I heard.

Deadwood, I'm looking at putting in 6 GPO's that's 6 x $90 = $540, plus I'm supplying GPO's and cable. How long does it take to fit 6 GPO's in a shed with no wall linings?

See if you can negotiate a price for just connecting the points - that is - you run the cable, you mount the GPO housings. All he then has to do is eyeball the location of your cable etc and make the final connections. He should be there less than an hour surely.
Hope it helps,
Bob
