Hydronic heating

Anyone had some experience with Hydronic heating.

I'm thinking of place some pex tubing in the slab.

I intend to do a DIY job.

I also intend to build or modify a boiler so as to be fired by wood.

Anyway, if someone has had some experience in installing or even using them.

Would like to know a little more about the components and the like

Any help would be appreciated.

We have hydronic heating but with radiators works well.
With hydronic heated slabs the main problem I have heard of is hot spots where the water comes in and cold where it goes out. So using one pipe winding through the slab is not on, a manifold or two would help. Looked into this years ago I was going to put a boiler in the cellar and heat the slab above so I would not need a pump. Hope this helps good luck.

like glen I can help with info on hydronic heating with radiators ( have had 2 systems installed in uk) plus have had quotes for installation here earlier this year. You will find heaps of info on radiator systems by searching on uk google as this is the "normal" form of central heating. For slab system can't help though.

Thanks for the offer of advice.

I have been searching the net and found some interesting information.

I guess there is always some unclear bits to the puzzle.

Within the next couple of months I expect to have the slab down, and will need to have a fair idea as to what I need, for the tubing will go down in the slab.

Always more to consider than first realised.

This is not my area of expertise, that's for sure.
