OK following the theme of other threads tell us the following;

1. What do you drive now?
2. What would you like to drive now (in your price range)?
3. What would you like to drive now (money no object)?
4. What is your favourite car you have owned in the past?

For me...

1. Pajero (Have two kids and share it with the wife)
2. Give wife Pajero and buy self dual cab Toyota Hi-lux SR5.
3. A Bentley for cruising, a Hummer for fun and a big yank pickup for stuff.
4. Not best but most fun was an 11 year old Jaguar I owned when I was 18, it died after a year of abuse, sad what you do when you're young and foolish.

2) Nissan Navara TD 4wd, Toyota Echo
3) Nissan Navara TD 4wd with all the fruit, Porsche Turbo any new model
4) Toss up between V8 Hilux 4wd, V8 Holden one tonner with a seriously modified motor and my first car an old Mazda 1800 (body design by Bertone) in which I put a full race cam and two humungous carbies. It could lay rubber in 1st, 2nd & 3rd and I would blow away all the local lads in their imitation XU1s. I painted it black with random sized triangles of different vibrant colours all over it  , this was in my graphic art days :D.

1. 2003 Suzuki Vitara SWB, '92 BMW 325i (300,000 k's)

2. I like what I've got, maybe upgrade the Bimmer to a 2000 Model 330

3. M3 BMW (Speed kills, play it safe, drive a Ford!)

4. '86 LWB Suziki Vitara sold last year with 300,000k's and the Bimmer before this, an '86 520 with 475,000 k's or maybe (if bikes are allowed) the '73 Norton Commando Fastback.

Sad thing about driving BMW's is everyone thinks you can afford to pay full price, they don't understand that my Zook is worth twice as much, nor that anyone would buy a Bimmer because they actually like the things! (They would be better cars without the badge!)

Funny thing is that I sold the 86 Zook for $200 less than it's new price, $2000 more than I got for the 86 Bimmer!!

If I break down in the Zook, I just hitch a lift back in an F250, and sit back as the view goes past so S L O W L Y!!

I had an XC 4.9l with 4v heads rally pack falcon with a top loader 4 speed, wrapped around to 240 kms years ago, and Im still here.
Maybe because it was go faster red?

1. What do you drive now?

1957 Porsche 356 coupe (I've been in love with this one for 25 years), 1993 SAAB 900i Aero (the last of the true Saabs, and the best shape of them all), 2002 Toyota Tarago (the family wagon).

2. What would you like to drive now (in your price range)?

I plan to replace the SAAB in the near future with perhaps an Audi TT.

3. What would you like to drive now (money no object)?

Cars are generally quite low down on my wish list. But I'd love a 1973 Porsche 911 RS (about 10 in the world!)

4. What is your favourite car you have owned in the past?

The first car is always special. Mine was a 10 year old, fifth-hand (time) bomb, a Lancia Fulvia Coupe. Clapped out but so much fun. I think it cost me about $500 some 30+ years ago.

Regards from Perth

The answers of someone who believes that cars are just a means of transport. I am past the age when they are an extension of an important male body part.

#1 - A current model Holden Calais V6. Nice comfortable car for driving long distances.

#2 - I will stay with the Holden while I am working and travelling. In retirement I will probably take a step back to an up in the range Toyota Camry V6, for the fuel economy.

#3 - Money being no object I might drive a top of the range Honda sedan. I think they are a bit over priced.

#4 - An MG TC in original condition. I loved that car, and I had it during a short period in my life when cars were my passion.

When in the UK I had a mate that rode his motor bike to work every day rain, snow or shine, it was about a 40 min trip part freeway. He wore an open front helmet and used to have to thaw his beard out over a radiator when he got to work. Now that?s committed and damn cold !

1. Hilux extra cab trayback ute.
2. Above car but with a 350 chev and suitable running gear.
3. Mercedes Unimog setup as a camper.
4. Can't separate 2 vehicles which were both dearly loved..

a. The Valiant ute I just pensioned off a few weeks ago when I got the Hilux.
Still going very well but needing TLC which I don't have the time for, so I'm going to put it on Ebay soon and someone will get some good big iron. The right vehicle for blowing away the boys in their fancy falcons and commodes.

b. My second hotrod, 1934 Ford with 292 v8, triple twin barrel carbs, cammed, lightened flywheel etc. Geared for acceleration not top speed.
If I dropped the foot hard at the lights the front wheels would lift off the ground about 6".

Only ever had the 34 wound up once (along Dandenong Road). It hit valve bounce at 5800rpm in top gear with needle right off the end of the speedo. (calculated speed from tach about 210 kph), and just as the valves started bouncing a Cortina went past me like I was tied to the fence.

Cars are generally quite low down on my wish list.

This from a man who has three cars and one is a Porsche? ;)

When I was young, I loved cars. These days, I hardly drive, and when I do I don't fantasize about driving anything flash. I've got more pushbikes than cars :)

1. Falcon AU Wagon
2. Falcon Wagon
3. Maybe a V8 Falcon Wagon. European cars are too small as are most 4WDs.
4. XR GT Falcon Sedan my dad bought me when I was a learner.

Ours was recalled too. Apparently about 4 out of the hundreds that were tested had the problem, which was caused by a nut being over-tightened during service.

2. What would you like to drive now (in your price range)?

3. What would you like to drive now (money no object)?
I reckon one of these would be tops! No problems with road rage, and maybe the "Dingo-Bobcat" debate could look at this HMEV as a third option??

I only replied to this because SilentC's reply made me chortle. Good work! There are three reasons why poor Wendell is struggling, Clyde Rathbone, Lote Tuqiri and skill. You have to admire Rathbone: he made his mind up, comitted to Auatralia and plays like a demon. Good man. Lote is freakishly skillful and sees plays that are not really on, but he makes them happen. Wendell is struggling with the subtlety of the game, I think.

By the way, my first car was a Ford Escort, followed by a Cortina, which is partly why SilentC's comment made me laugh. It only needed a decent engine, some suspension, reasonable seats, a gearbox and some steering and it would have been a half decent form of transport. You could say the same about a fridge, though, and the performance and handling were simliar.

Now HH, I know you are just being controversial. We wont go into the representation of Aussies in the English cricket and football competitions.

You must realise that Australia is made up of people from many countries and you can't exclude people from the national team on the basis that they weren't born here. Otherwise we wouldn't even have a national soccer team.

You can, however, exclude them because they are totally useless.

Now HH, I know you are just being controversial. We wont go into the representation of Aussies in the English cricket and football competitions.
OK, I've been for smoko and had a bite to eat so I'm a little calmer now. But it really does bug me that countries plunder others for their athletes by offering them "insentives".

As an individual wanting to leave your mark on a sport then the chance to win trophies with the Wallabies or more recently England:D rather than being a great player in a good but not great Fijian team must be very tempting. However if Fiji had all it's best players and managed to win a trophy the impression left on the sport would be much longer lasting.

I guess it comes down to whether international sport is about winning or truly representing your countries ability at a given sport, I'd rather it was the latter and I've suffered years of inability at international level soccer with England:( .

If I were capable which I certainly am not I couldn't play for Australia against England in the cricket. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Australia and prefer it over England but when it comes down to it I'm English, maybe that will dilute over time I don't know. My kids however were born here and I wouldn't want my son to play Cricket for England just because he couldn't get into the Australian side, he's an Australian end of story.

Not sure I've got this across very well but I'm sure you guys will make me clarify...:D

Not sure if you are aware, but Loti played League for QLD before he joined the Wallabies, so as far as they are concerned, he was already an Aussie player when they poached him.

Regarding all the rest, you can take the boy out of the country etc. etc. Don't expect your aversion to supporting Australia in sport to wane in the near future. I've associated with quite a large number of your fellow ex-patriots in the past and it doesn't seem to be something you will grow out of very quickly.

That's going to be a nightmare to keep clean, especially if you actually drive the thing. I know this because...

1 A Honda Saber. Greenie for anyone who works out what that is...

2 Fam damily car, Harrier Hybrid. I guess a cross dressing and obese Rav4. For me, a used single cab Hilux 4wd diesel.

3 A new single cab Hilux 4wd diesel for me, day to day. A Subaru wagon thingy for the family chores. Play car? Uhh... Anything with more than 600hp standard will be fine thanks...

4 Hilux extra cab 4wd diesel. Driven properly, and white was hard enough to keep clean. :D

Just wish the thing had a turbo on it.

I've got a Mazda 3

In my price range Mazda 3

Any car too many good ones that would be great fun did used to be very soft on the Ferrari 512BB. Any 911 would do. If I had money for anything it would probably be a new current 911 but the Mazda MPS is pretty good too I have heard. Might just get an M3, you don't get called a wanker in one of those you get called an A*** Hole

Best one I've had, almost the most fun was the Fiat 124 sedan I had. 1200cc OHV engine with a mere 60bhp but sheeze was it good fun, laid an outside pass on a 911 going up to the Eagle on the Hill one day but he had no idea what to do in corners! Bought that 124 and rebuilt the engine before it worked. The Mazda 3 though is a sensational drive without the heartbreak so it gets the guernsey more fun to drive and no hassles either.

Toss up, in the 60's I had a bug eyed Austin Healey, gutless as buggery but a real crumpet catcher, later in life, Z3, probably my mid life crisis and couldn't fit my fly rod in the boot.

1. 1990 Jaguar (My latest toy). Wife has a 2005 Zafira (Kid Carrier). 1928 Graham Paige Tourer (If we finally get it going again...) 1929 Graham Paige (Still restoring)

2. A newer Jag, just have to convince the minister of finance

3. The Graham Paige Racing Special my father and I have been designing for the last 10 years. We have got most of the peices together now, we just have to find the time to assemble them, and if money wasnt an object we could really go to town, or a bugatti (Type 35 racer, atlantique, or royale im not fussy)

4. Without a doubt. 1964 MGB roadster. Red with painted wires. Had to sell it due to growing family (This is what the Jag replaced) Miss that thing like nothing else. drove it into work every day (peak hour). Roof only went up if it was actualy raining, even then if I kept if over 75 I could leave the roof down, so I passed many confused people on the freeway, pouring rain and me with the roof down, just had to put it up when I got to the lights at the end. Even took it camping, drove it around tasmania, my left arm hurt after that trip (Slow down, Thump:D). Was even used as the childcare pickup vehicle for my eldest. I wanna nother one:(:(

3/ VW dual cab transporter...is there a 4x4 version?

Cheers,

Back when I used to hang out with Porsche people, I heard tell of a period of foolishness in the 80's when the boys at Hamilton's shoehorned a 1000 hp
Porsche 917 12 cyl into a combi. A couple of months of engineering and fabrication for one bowel-slackening blast down Church St.

There was also a 959 version made in the states, so yes, a 4 X 4 is available.

1 A Honda Saber. Greenie for anyone who works out what that is...

Two Honda saber's but as your in Japan I remember seeing what we call honda civic's bagded as saber's

The other Honda saber was a run of honda shaddow bikes, those look like Harleys , but look like was all , I'm no Harley fan (prefer Bmw's ) but rather have a harley than a Honda Shadow.

NOt being a mini expert, far from it, but I always thought the Cooper S was bigger, like about 1400-1500:confused:1275cc standard. Then bored to 1310cc, followed by a cutoff Datsun crank to get the extra stroke.

Top speed somewhere over 130mph (limit of speedo) with the backside skimming white lines - heckuva ride. Oh yeah, nearly forgot, hitting catseyes at that speed with small wheels is more like hitting the whole cat.

1) 89 Hilux diesel dual cab (solid, decent boot ;) good economy)/87 JE Camira (goes like a rocket, horrible to work on :( )
2) Newer model dual cab ute ... not sure which one ... would like ABS and smaller rather than the hugh agressive look .. then again being able to put a load of stuff in the back means 1 ton capacity helps!
3)For fun engineering or just being scottish maybe a hybrid like the Toyota Prius .. but would not like the unknown of maitenance on the batteries. Perhaps for "niceness" a diesel Merc?
4) Mk III Zephyr ... bored out 0.040" to fix the taper .. all of 2.6 litres when finished... replaced it with the ute to get a decent boot :)

Sorry. Not quite.

As no-one has tried to claim the prize, and you were the closest guess (but not even close!) you get the green.

It's actually some wacky thing that seems to be cobbled together to prove a point of some kind.

It's Honda's version of an Audi. And I really mean that.

Longitudinal engine with front wheel drive, and as an added bonus, 5 cylinders. First time I looked under the bonnet, I saw the engine and just figured it was a rear drive 4. Realized a little later that Honda don't do RWD, so popped the bonnet again and had a good look, then realized the plug leads numbered 5. Wierd thing, and it doesn't get rid of torque steer, just changes the way it happens, from a constant left/right pull to a bit of tramtracking.

Also happily revs to 7,000+. I'll give Honda one thing, they make engines that go pretty hard. :D

Size wise, it's a full sized sedan. Bigger than the Accord, kinda of a luxo barge really, considering how much of a barge you can reasonably have over here. Apparently they sold these things in the US too.

So, impress your mates down the pub. Ask them what the heck a Honda Saber is. ;)

Ooooo... I missed this one...
It looks like a comp in 'who can be the weirdest.'
OK... Lets see.

'55 Series II Landrover.
'58 Consol with the top cut off.
1500 Morris ( can't remember the year & don't want to.)
3 (as in qty 3) EH holdens roughly '64 model.
'62 model Falon 2 speed Hydomatic (Faaarrrkkk)
'77 Datsun 180B (Faaaaarrkkk)
XD Falcon ('81? maybe '82)
'70something Toyoyta Corona that used more oil than petrol.
'70something Toyota Landcrusier Station wagon rust bucket (that could NOT drive out of site on a tank full.)
'89 Toyota Lexan (got me out of a speeding ticket 'cos the cop wrote Commodore on the ticket :D )
1,697,342 company cars.
'60 series IIa Landrover. (Opps, I've been around the clock.)

Nah, just joking... I didn't buy the first landrover, it was my Dad's & a mate(?) gave me the Consol. (Mum & Dad still have it at home)

Except for the 1,697,342 company cars, I bought or owned a share in the rest.
How weird is that?
